Caribou and the Wrangles

So here it is...
My first Caribou painting with the Wrangle mountains in the background.

44.5 hours of work on this 16"x20" oil painting.

I thought it was a good painting to end with (for the year).

On another note -
I'm just loving the weather Alaska has been having!!
God's awesome power is so evident in His creation that surrounds us - I look up at the blue sky that says, "Trust me" and I can't tear my eyes off of the majestic mountains and all their breathtaking fearsome beauty. Observing the birds of the air and the beasts of the field brings such wonder and joy to my heart. How can one ever doubt His love when observing these things? But we do. All the time. Everywhere are surrounded with reminders of His love and faithfulness - we just need to know how to see them.

God bless,

A New Page

[Please note: This post was from about two months ago and never got posted!]

Dear readers,

I realize its been a while since my last post...for that I am sorry. I've been busy in my studio, painting and fulfilling commissions, and I'm sorry I haven't been more diligent in keeping you all updated. It just hasn't been one of my priorities.
I also recently got engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. That may help to explain my absence...

Yup.

I love him.

Anyway...

Meanwhile I've been painting and sketching (when I'm not working) . Finished two commissions and I'm currently working on a third [WAS working on a third. Its finished now and will be a later post].

Painted this dog portrait for someone. It was a fun project.

Pencil sketch portrait of a father and his son.

And this is what I'm painting now [FINISHED will show in later post].

It will probably be my last painting this year as starting this summer I'll be working full-time and wont have the time to paint. Then I'm getting married! I will still try to paint. If its just to release the artist in me, I will always try to fit it in somewhere.

God bless,

-Elizabeth Joy

Bazaars and new projects

All of these updates are way overdue. My life has been quite spontaneous lately, I've had a hard time sitting myself down so as to share what's been happening in my studio. So, please forgive me.

I'm selling these original hardcopy sketches in ink online over at my etsy shop. Check them out!

Painting currently in process. Very pleased how this one is going. Covered the whole canvas in three hours - yes!

I attended two Bazaars in November. Went pretty well. Majority of what sold were the greeting cards. I also sold a few prints.

Sketched and colored Smuggles with my knew markers I got for Christmas (This was while I was in Oregon visiting friends over new years).

Upcoming projects include: Commissioned dog portrait, variety pack of birds of Alaska greeting cards, family portrait, and another Alaska Right To Life logo mural commission.

Moose Painting

I created this painting with the intention of using it to make greeting cards for a customer. If you would like to custom order cards for yourself or your business please don't hesitate to contact me. I like to paint most anything, it doesn't have to be animals or landscapes - it can be fantasy, buildings, objects, flowers, or people.

Three weeks on this painting, averageing three hours a day on it (and that's four to five days a week). I filmed the whole process of this painting which I will be posting soon - stay tuned.

My next project is a beautiful silhouette of one of my favorite mountains reflecting off of a lake. I'm also starting another bird painting, this time of Bohemian Waxwings (done in watercolor). I want to make available to customers assorted packs of cards with different themes. The first assortment I'm working on is birds...I have two different bird cards already, and plan to add at least two more to the pack.

Thank you for taking a look at my blog.
